MaxDB Connection

Hello,

I'm accessing my MaxDB datasource via an EJB Application and as I'm requesting on its tables, the number of connections (read thru visual administrator) is increasing (and never decreasing) until shuting down my database (no more connection are possible, we have to restart it). The exception is the following :

com.sap.engine.services.dbpool.exceptions.BaseResourceException: SQLException thrown by the physical connection: com.sap.dbtech.jdbc.exceptions.JDBCDriverException: SAP DBTech JDBC: Cannot connect to jdbc:sapdb://srvsap/NW1 [Connection down, session released].

My questions are :

- Is it normal that the number of connection is growing during the lifetime of my application

- What's important between free connection, used connection, max connection, init connection ??

- Which parameters are important to configure my MaxDB database and to prevent this kind of problem

- Where can i find logs to analyse the problem

Thanks  lot in advance,

Marc
